About Beatty
Gordon H Beatty Middle School serves the community of Buena Park and parts of La Mirada and Fullerton and offers grades 6th through 8th students a wide variety of electives and programs. All 6th grade students take their core classes with one teacher, with the option of two elective classes, and all 7th and 8th grade students take eight periods, three of which are elective courses. Signature electives include:
STEM (coding, advanced coding, 3D Design: Project Lead the Way, STEM Aviation, Robotics, Advanced Robotics, Sports Science, and Medical Science: Project Lead the Way)Digital and Multimedia Art (Art, Advanced Art, Digital Art, Video Production)
Communication (Debate, Yearbook, Intro to Spanish, Intro to Korean, Leadership/ASB,
Music (Choir, Strings, Advanced Strings, and Guitar)
Beatty offerings also feature Honors Academy (application and Honors Placement Test required), with classes available in Math, Science, English, and History. Honors Academy classes are for students who find their strength in one or more curricular areas. Qualifying students may take Honors Academy classes in any combination of subjects. After-school academic enrichment activities are likewise provided to students who are GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) identified by the Buena Park School District.
